Of these 982 open cases, there were 802 cases accepted into service coordination, 41 consultation/linkage cases, 1 family that was not accepted into service coordination, and 138 cases that were pending at the time of this report’s compilation.
These open cases involved 608 males (62%) and 374 females (38%), with an average age of 11.47 years (range: 0-23 years).
The majority of youth were White/Caucasian (67%), with African American youth (11%) and multi-racial youth (9%) making up the two largest minority groups. In addition, 14% of all cases were designated as having an Appalachian ethnic identity.
For those open cases with data entered on referral source (n = 842), the Top 3 primary referral sources for these cases were mental health providers (22%), the juvenile court (21%), and children’s services (14%).
The majority of youth were in the custody of one or both of their biological parents (75%) and were living in their family home (69%) when the service coordination case was opened.
