• Twenty-two counties have entered data on a total of 1,201 youth and families who are participating in service coordination efforts throughout Ohio.
• Approximately two-thirds of the youth are Caucasian, and African American youth are the largest minority population (14.2%) represented in the service coordination database.
• Two-thirds of the youth are male and one-third female.
• About 70% of youth are in the custody of a biological parent at the time of referral to service coordination. Youth in the custody of their grandparents are the next largest group (9%). About 5% of all youth are in the custody of adoptive parents and kinship/relatives.
• Almost 75% of all youth are in their family homes at the time of the service coordination referral. Youth in kinship/relative homes (11.5%) are the next largest group. Almost 6% of youth are in a juvenile detention center at the time of referral.
• Mental health professionals and juvenile justice staff members are the top two primary service referral agencies to service coordination, and in combination account for almost 50% of all referrals.
• Mental health information was entered on a total of 689 youth in service coordination. The top three mental health services being provided at the time of referral were: Individualized mental health counseling (27%), Medication management (21%), and Psychiatric services (18.3%)
• Juvenile justice information was entered on a total of 444 youth in service coordination. The top three juvenile justice activities that were present at the time of referral were: Youth is on probation (31.3%), Youth had been incarcerated in the last year (18.9%), and Youth had been adjudicated delinquent (15.1%)
